Greece Trip (6/4/2007) Chania

Chania is a city located to the west of Crete. It takes 2.5 hours by bus from Hirakleo to get there. Never have we missed Il so much. No one would help us carry the diaper bag or camera or Arnold any more. We were all on our own.

There is a lighthouse and a castle museum in Chania. We arrived there too late to go to the museum. Lunch place was a restaurant on a busy street in Old Town area. I ordered a mixed meat platter that contained pork, beef, lamb, sausage and ham. It was the best grilled meat we'd had during the trip.

Biajee ran out of clothes to change because we didn't do any laundry in Crete so he had to buy a T shirt on our way back to the bus stop. It has a saying of Socrates on it in Greek: "The only thing I know is that I don't know anything."

We met a girl from New Zealand who had been living in England for 15 years. She said Knossos Palace would be a place that we could go to on the 2nd day.

We got back in Hirakleo at 9:30 and dined at a place that has high chair. One thing about Europe is that it's not a kid-friendly place. Most restaurants do not have baby chairs so Biajee and I had to take turns holding Arnold. Europeans do not go out to eat the way Americans do. We suddenly became very very homesick.
