Supplies List

We met Arnold's head teacher Amy yesterday and got the supplies list for Toddler's Room:

Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Sheet
Book Bag
Lunch Box
Sunscreen
Gloves
Hat

We're going shopping this weekend. Arnold will be in Toddler's Room starting from October 1st. He's been spending time there in the last two days. The teacher was impressed with his cheerful attitude and well behavior.

Single Mom

I'm a single mom at the moment. Xinle's mom arrive in town on Sept. 12th. Xinle has to spend all his time with her, including his MSN chat time during his work hour every day (he's been doing that ever since he came to the US). She'd be here for ONLY 33 days, as she said. Xinle's dad will join her on October 5th. They'll both head back to China on October 15th.

I'm still working 14 hour days and taking care of Arnold all by myself. I cannot remember when is the last time I really speak to my husband. It feels like I'm back to my single days, except that I have a toddler with me all the time. It's a good practice for me as a matter of fact. I need to be able to take care of my son all by myself while working full time, just because I am a responsible person in all aspects of my life.

I'm so ready for the weekend. At least I won't need to be too on top of work email till Sunday night when Asia starts their Monday.

Transition

Arnold starts transitioning today. He'll go to the Toddler's Room for an hour today and then continually increasing the hours there every day till 2 weeks later he'll be in that room completely.

He'll learn music and Spanish once he starts going to the Toddler's Room. He cannot speak any English or Chinese yet. We'll have to see how that goes.

I bought 2 four passes for Winter Park and 2 four passes for Copper Mountain this year. We'll be skiing a lot. Biajee and I will take turns skiing while the other watches Arnold. We haven't skied for 2 years because of Arnold. It's good time to catch up. I'll probably stay on the green most of the time. It is funny that I don't want to take any chances after I have a child.

Arnold has so much strengths lately. He can swim and run around all day long. I'm glad that I'm fit enough to keep up with him.

Job

I've been working 14 to 16 hours per day the whole week last week. I have a gut feeling that if I cannot perform in my new role, I'd be included in the next layoff, which could happen next February if our financial statements don't look better.

This cannot disturb on the quality time I spend with Arnold every day. He is so adorable. My heart is pure and full of love every time I look at him, although I usually have to work after he goes to bed because of the time difference between here and Hong Kong.

Arnold seems to like outdoors quite a lot these days. He would demand me to take him out around the neighborhood or to the park every day. He enjoys going down the slides after I put him on top of them.

We went to the 2nd swimming class today. All we've learned are how to blow bubbles, move along the edge of the pool, feel comfortable lying on his back and jump into the water. It was hysterical when we put Arnold standing on the edge of the pool.

"Arnold, jump, jump!" Biajee would open his arms with encouragement.

Arnold would look down at him with a big smile, then put his hands on his round belly. Seemed like he was saying, "I'm not jumping, daddy. Are you kidding me?"

Then we'd take turns and pull him into water. He had the most fun out of it.

First Swimming Lesson

We took Arnold to his first swimming lesson today. He was quite afraid of the huge swimming pool in the beginning. Biajee held him to sit against the wall at first. I went around and saw parents holding their children flowing around the pool.

"Give him to me." I said. I held Arnold to swirl around the pool along with the currents. Arnold seemed to get used to water after 15 minutes.

We learned how to blow bubbles, jump into the pool and flow on the stomach today. We all had quite some fun. Biajee and Arnold were starving after the swimming lesson. We had some leftover food from yesterday. We finished up the 8 dishes cooked for our party. The best thing to do these days was to host parties on Saturdays and then eat the leftover on Sundays.

I'll have to bring my laptop home this week. There are so many projects in my new role. I'm too proud to fail at anything.

Reorganization

My company had a reorganization just before Labor Day. Approximately 100 people were let go. I was moved to Global Sourcing Department. I had no idea what my new role would be except that I've been working more hours than ever since.

Biajee and I went hiking every day during the long weekend. We climbed Mount Sanitas in Boulder again and discovered this nice sushi restaurant in Superior that's called Sushi Yoshi (means good sushi in Japanese).

We went to Cherry Creek State Park on Labor Day and rented a paddle boat for an hour. All three of us got boat sick after 30 minutes on the lake. Arnold was most uncomfortable because he had to wear the life vest.

We went to H Mart for lunch afterwards so that I could devour some spicy Korean cold noodles to fight agains the sickness.

Life is exhausting today.
